Editing Time Files using earlier versions of LionClock

Editing time entries is quite simple if you follow these instructions. Once you did that a couple of times, you will find it remarkably easy. For now, you might consider printing this document. Also, you should expect that, as time goes by, your employees will become more and more organized: after all, telling your boss that you forgot to clock out every single week is quite annoying.

How to change the time entries:

1) Close LionClock

2) Go to the folder LionClock was installed to
    Usually C:\Program Files\LionClock\data

3) Find the file that has the name of the employee you need that looks like "Name.txt" where "Name" is the employee's name.

Note: To simplify the editing task we have decided not to encrypt the contents of time files, therefore, you can view and modify them right away.)

4) Optional: Make a backup copy of this file to a floppy (in case you make a mistake)

5) Open the file and modify or remove the time entries you want

6) Save the changes and close the file

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you are erasing or modifying the contents of a time file, you have to preserve the original file format. If you have accidentally deleted or added some irrelevant characters or spaces to the time file, LionClock won't keep the correct time for this employee and will generate a bad payroll report. That is why you have to be careful when modifying your time files.

1)
IN and OUT must follow each other: you can't have two INs or OUTs one after another

2) You must keep the same number of spaces in the time file: everything must be aligned in the same way it was originally. Do not use tabs. Use spaces only. There must be 8 spaces between the date and the time.

3) Make sure that you have one (1) new line at the end of the file. To verify that, move the blinking cursor to the bottom of the file. It should be on a new line.

4) Make sure that the lines are aligned properly. To verify that, select all text by going to "Edit - Select All" and make sure that the highlighted rectangle is totally straight. If you see any extra spaces, remove them.
